style of electronic dance music that originated in Chicago, USA, in the early 1980s initially became popular in the first half of the eighties in the clubs geared toward African American, Latino 1 and public Chicago, later in New York and Detroit. Later he came to Europe, where it became a mass phenomenon with a dominant influence on other musical styles like pop and dance music since the mid-1990s.
